"Mirror, mirror, on the wall; tell me that I've got a heart after all."
A drawing I've been meaning to do for months, of Severus in front of the Mirror of Erised. I've always thought that he'd see himself and Lily, at first, together and in love, and after he'd seen Harry for the first time he would have seen Harry with them, as their son, without the scar and the glasses that marked him as James' son, and as Voldemort's almost-victim.
I felt like, to match the mood that Severus would surely be in, black, gray, and white should be the predominant colours. But I also felt that Lily's hair needed to stay red, and it ended up as the only colour in the piece.
Overall I'm thrilled with this piece. It turned out exactly as I wanted it to. The mirror frame and the lighting I'm especially thrilled with.
Medium: Mechanical pencil for sketch, Copic fineliners, Faber-Castell PITT artist pens, and watered-down calligraphy ink.
Severus Snape, Lily Evans/Potter, Harry Potter, and the Harry Potter series and franchise are (c) JK Rowling, Warner Bros, and all those folks that happen to own them. I intend no offense with this painting. Mirror, Mirror is (c) Katie Mulcahey. Please do not use, alter, or print for any reason. If you want to share it on tumblr, reblog from [link] . Thank you!!
Edit: I really didn't want to have to do this, and I'm sorry, but I've added a watermark to stop any further theft of this picture. It's gotten out of hand and as much as I hate watermarking stuff, I am also very tired of having to contact people on tumblr to credit me or take it down. So, watermark. There are two separate watermarks for this, one to remustheravenclaw and one to kyasarin131, both of whom are me. Hopefully now this stops
Kyasarin - sorry about the picture theft issues Could I use your picture in my signature on cos forums with a credit & link back to this page? I don't mind the watermark at all (plus, CoS will only be open for a few more months - they're closing down for good in July).
I saw this piece of art on Facebook, once, I don't know when and on which page... Or was it on tumblr? I don't know... But anyways, I really liked it... The emotion, the fact that the characters had no face, but were still instantly recognizable, but yet remaining ghoulish (thanks to their facelessness?) and all of the composition giving a sort of nightmarish impression, an impression of longing and profound sadness... Yeah, I liked it very much. Some time ago, I created an account on deviantart... And tonight, I remembered that drawing! I remembered the drawing I saw that day and decided to try and find the author. And DEAR GOD, WAS I LUCKY! So yeah, I'm here now, I found you, and I wanted to find you so I could tell you how much I love what you created here. So I could congratulate you for the awesome drawing you did And now I'm happy ^^
Glad to see I'm not the only one. Great pic btw
